Following the announcement of Street Fighter x Tekken, Famitsu pulled a few more details out of Street Fighter IV producer Yoshinori Ono. According to Ono, the game will release in about two years, with a more specific release window to be announced at next year’s Captivate event.

A few other tidbits came from the interview as well. As Ono describes, the idea for the project received virtually no resistance from Namco, thanks to a working relationship from the Gundam arcade games. In addition, the development teams for both games (Street Fighter x Tekken and Tekken x Street Fighter) are working in complete isolation from each other, which should lead to a clear divergence of art styles and game design.

Ono joked that because of this, they could make Nina Williams completely naked in Street Fighter x Tekken and Namco wouldn’t know about it until release, but then he realized Namco could do the same to Chun Li. He also expressed his anticipation over which game would receive a platinum rating from Famitsu.

Am I the only one that’s loving the sudden explosion of character and color from Japanese developers (mainly Capcom)? They’ve been stale for so many years that this is just awesome.
