Quakecon Tournaments Announced

The time has come for you to show the world how awesome you are, to make the leap to pro gaming. Put on your best pair of aviator shades, splash on some cologne, pack up your $80 gaming mouse, and head to Quakecon in Dallas, TX to make your debut in the Quake Live Open. Up to 128 amateur players will vie for a first prize of $1,500, which you’ve already won (they just don’t know yet).

Other tournaments are invitational, but that’s ok, after they see you in the Quake Live Open, they’ll probably beg you to join the bracket. The Intel Quake Live Masters Championship will feature a bracket of 64 top players in 1 on 1 duels, with $14,000 going to the champion.

There will also be a Quake Live Capture the Flag tournament that you’re bound to destroy. 32 teams of four players each will battle it out for a top prize of $14,000 for the team. Overall, more than $50,000 in prizes are up for grabs for skilled Quake Live players, but you’re obviously going to get most of it. For the sissies that like to watch, Quakecon will also set up a 250-seat tournament area where spectators can watch the action on huge screens with commentary.
