Older 360 Models Outsell Slim

Also: people like paying less money for the same thing. Thanks to a blanket $50 price drop, the older Xbox 360 models (including the Arcade, Pro, and Elite bundles) outsold the new Xbox 360 Slim in June according to a note to investors by Wedbush Morgan Securities Michael Pachter. In addition to the drop in MSRP, several retailers also offer bonus incentives in the form of gift cards or rebates to get the older 360s off shelves.
Microsoft might be waiting to clear out most of their old 360 models before introducing the tiered sku system with the new Slim 360. That would simplify their market presence as well as keep the retail side of things easy to understand. At least, that’s where my “I want them to put out a cheaper Slim package” hopes are pointing.
