The German Gamestop website listed an Arcade version of the recently released Xbox 360 redesign, seemingly confirming speculation that a cheaper, no-frills iteration of the hardware would be on the way. The site previously listed the system at €148.99 price (nearly $199 US), though the price has now been removed.

The item description implies that the system will offer 4GB of storage, though its unknown if that will be internal, or merely a much smaller removable hard drive. Smart money is on the former option, which would allow owners to upgrade the storage later if necessary.

The listing also shows a release date of August 20, which would give the system plenty of breathing room to fill the market before the release of Kinect. Given that Kinect is Microsoft’s attempt to enter the living room of your average non-gamer, providing them a cheaper system makes a lot of sense.
