Free Game: Star Control 2

Some games are just classics that require revisiting, especially on a lazy Sunday afternoon. Finding older games has gotten easier over the years, with sites like Good Old Games providing cheap, legal downloads of tons of classic games.

Even better, some games have become what’s called Abandonware, meaning that the publisher has released the source code to be modded and released legally for free. A group of industrious programmers took the source code for the 3DO version of Star Control 2 and ported it to the PC. A fantastic space opera with a deep plot, expect to take lots of notes while you play. You won’t uncover the ultimate mystery if you don’t.
