The producer of Crackdown 2, James Cope, sat down for an interview and let us know some great new information and address our criticisms about our favorite, building-leaping supercops. I’m amazed to learn that the game was made, start to finish, in 18 months. Considering that the first Crackdown took five years to make, that means the team at Ruffian spent many long nights making sure the game was as good as it is.

It’s obvious that the story wasn’t of primary concern, and James confirms that it wasn’t their focus at all. Given the short development time, they focused entirely on gameplay, including the questionable idea of using the exact same city layout. If there were any sacrifices to be made, gameplay would always take precedence.

He also confirmed two DLC packs, the Toy Box and Deluge. The second of which he claims will include “a completely new way to play the game you’ve already got.” What that means is anyone’s guess.
